Lately, I was assigned to do a small project. It is a re-design of my previous work. However, at this time, the client would like to have a back-end functionality to dynamically update products based on his shop inventory. For the quick solution, I decided to use WordPress as the CMS platform to help the client to get what he is looking for.
The main idea with this site re-design using WordPress is that I need to create the custom post type with custom taxonomy to help client add product into website under various product categories. There is also the news section which is similar to blog. And the news section is another custom post type I will be dealing with.
The main work is about creating the child theme under wp-content/themes/ to get all functionality from theme called “twentyeleven”. Some functions and css style are over-written (over-ridden) in order to further customize the site in both front-end and back-end with new custom post types. Most work has been done in back-end implementation. I will leave the front-end part to the last to deal with.
Frankly, WordPress API is very helpful when dealing with this kind of small web project and the result is always turning great.
Some time tomorrow, I will upload what I have got to server and update my portfolio site with this site re-design using wordpress API with more detailed implementing information.
